Sweet 16 Birthday Ideas

     The Sweet Sixteen Celebration can be formal, semi-formal, or casual.  It is a coming of age birthday, and is a very important occasion in a girl's life in many cultures.  Some celebrate the occation with a candle-lighting ceremony, shoe ceremony, tiara ceremony, and father-daughter dance.  Regardless of your culture and your ideas for celebration, you are probably considering some gifts.  Here I have given you some suggestions.  You can get them almost anything, ranging from a camera necklace to an expensive weekend trip.

Spa Day:

     Treat your new sixteen year old daughter to a day of pampering.  She can have a massage, a facial, and even her nails done.  She will love the beauty treatment.  You can even take her to have her hair cut and styled.  She will love the girly-girl treatment she will get at the spa!

Shopping Spree:

     Take your sixteen year old on a shopping spree for her sixteenth birthday.  She will be happy to spend your money on some new clothes.  Take her for purses, shoes, accessories, or even a new clothes wardrobe.  She will remember this gift forever!

Jewelry:

      I know it is really hard to shop for someone, especially a teenager.  They can be awfully picky about what they do and do not like.  Chances are though, that you at least know what kinds of stores they like to shop at.  In this case, you can purchase a gift card for whatever amount you choose and let them pick out their own money.  Your daughter will love having the opportunity to pick out what she wants from her favorite store.

     Yes, I know this is a small gift, but a meaningful one yet.  Being a teenager is not easy, and girls have an emotional need to express themselves.  Your daughter can feel free to express herself in her journal or diary every day.  There are neat journals out there that your daughter can use and keep forever.

Ipod:

     Your daughter probably loves music.  WIth an ipod, she can download music and listen with her own tiny ipod and headphones.  You can even purchase her a gift card from itunes so she can purchase some music off the internet for her ipod.

Money:

     Money is an easy gift if you just don't know what to buy for your daughter.  I am sure she will not take it personally.  Instead she will appreciate the fact that she can use the money to pick out what she really wants. 

Concert Tickets:

    Teenage girls have their music icons.  A great gift your daughter will appreciate is tickets to a concert so she can go see her favorite artist or group perform with her best friends.  She will love and appreciate this gift!

Car:

    This is the mother of all sweet 16 gifts.  Every sixteen year old wants a car for her birthday.  Unfotunately, this is an expensive gift.  If you can afford it, your daughter will love it and the new freedom it gives her.  Be sure she is responsible enough for a driver's license and a car before purchasing one.
